I wonder if any of you has had this experience. Over my life I have had these moments of extreme clarity where the solution to a problem comes out of nowhere. I was not thinking of anything related to it at the time. This has allowed me to do things that I am not normally capable of doing. Then in the future when I looked back on it, I have no clue as to how I solved that problem, or even how I came up with that idea.

Here is an example, the first time I think this has ever happened to me. One day when I was a teenager, my friend was driving us around. Out of the blue I had this certainty that with my calculator I can time the lights on the street, even when I have never been there before. Crazy, yes? So he decided to try it out. I gave my him a precise speed which was sometimes very fast. Too fast. Each time the light would turn green when we were passing the stop line at each intersection. We would turn on another street where I did the same thing. However, there was one time the light turned green when we were already in the middle of the intersection. Oh well. What I was doing made perfect sense to me at the time. Is this an an extraordinary example of “luck”? I have had several such experiences in my life.

Now looking back on this, for the life of me I do not know how I did this. I did not think this was possible. I do know that I will never be able to do this again. So there has been short infrequent episodes where I went from “stupid” to “smart”, and then back to my normal “stupid”. This is very unusual for me, but does happen. Heck, there was one short episode where I wrote software for a computer that I believed I was not capable enough for me to write. Later I did not recognize the software at all, and was actually shocked to find my name on it. I sat there wondering how was it possible for me to write such software. I did not remember writing it. This was a “Twilight Zone” moment for me. I do not believe this has anything to do with the paranormal.

So have any of you had similar experiences?

I haven't had any lately, but there's been a time or two when I revisited something and for the life of me couldn't figure out how I did it.
Thanks for this!

For the first, a calculator is not indispensable. Sorry.
The second, was an out-of-body experience.
I'm just kidding. I hope you take it as what it is, a bad joke. Lol.

This happens to me now and then. I find the "clarity" of which you speak is the common thread. I almost seem like I'm at peace. Instead of attacking the problem in my usual manner, the solution just comes to me in some sort of divine fashion like I've been "in this place" all along. It doesn't seem to involve any high level of skill......in fact, the solution is simple but was always hidden from me before. Perhaps at these times, I'm not under the spell of BP after all. My mind is clear and calm.

I usually can only sleep on my own when I do have a technical problem I need to solve. I wake up ready to run to work to fix the problem. It is awesome!

When I was a technician all I had to do was sleep on a hard gripe and the solution would come to me.

I also have 100% accuracy on just knowing the sex of an unborn baby. Length of gestation does not matter. The second I peed on the stick I knew I had a daughter.

I can also choose exact matches for colors of things. It may have been something I have not seen in years and I can still choose the correct exact match of paint or a rug for example.

I have tons of things like this in my life. I think on a different wavelength.

This happened in 1975. Everything was different back then. There was no computer controlling the lights.

Yes, it has happened on rare occasions. I suppose if you're hypomanic, the "boost" aides in such things, but I think it can happen to most people.

I was never bad at math, design (more the engineering aspect vs. artistic), or general problem solving, but on occasions I was suddenly able to solve and design things that amazed myself and others. Even the "idea person" in me could reach new heights on occasion, and then fall downwards.

Yes, these types of occurrences have happened to me many times. Usually it has to do with a song or music.

I call those occurrences "pop magic".
