Wow! I scored a 56 on the bi-polar test. I knew I was bi-polar, but I've been trying to get people to believe how bad I was before Paxil and the only thing keeping me from being really manic right now is my physical pain. By now I would have had my raised beds built and my entire veggie garden on it's way. One year I dug up the entire back yard and pulled out tree roots that were two feet under and up to thirty feet long. Then I replanted grass. I did this by myself in about three days. I kept going after that through the entire yard cleaning out all the flower beds. At the same time I was working full time and kept the house up and cooked!!! Now it all is in my head but I can't do anything about it physically. It's driving me nuts! Aaaarrrggghhh!

Unfortunately, I don't think those on-line tests are necessarily very accurate. Diagnosis requires a very thorough face to face evaluation on the part of a psychiatrist. Even then, it might not happen in just one visit, I think it's a difficult diagnosis to make. If you're concerned that this is what you're experiencing, I suggest you see a psychiatrist for an evaluation. Good Luck!

I scored within the medium/high range, but I've been searching for a diagnosis for over 20 years. It took numerous medicine cocktails before it was suggested I see a psychiatrist because obviously ad's weren't working. I'm not saying you are or aren't but you definitely need to see someone to get, at the very least, meds to help you cope. I've learned here that the dx isn't nearly as important as the management of your symptoms. Good luck!

You say you're on Paxil, so you must have a doctor? Did you take the test to guage where you're at right now? If you have a pdoc or a T maybe you should call to get an appointment.

I always score very high on both mania and depression test at the same time.

I agree the test doesn't really diagnose it just gives a general idea what to talk to your doctor about. But, I use them to guage where I'm at every frew weeks because I can't always tell.

In reply, yes, I am on Paxil. It is the only medicine that works for me and believe me I've tried most of them. I am waiting to see a mental health worker through community health. Thank you ALL for your concern!

I just took it again myself; still scoring in the upper 40s even with meds and therapy. Can't imagine it's totally accurate---it says I qualify for a Bipolar I diagnosis, but for now I'm a 'tentative' II (pdoc still won't rule out BP I, he is a very conservative and cautious diagnostician).

However.......I was off the charts the first time I took the test, so there's definitely been some improvement. And of course, I'm never going to NOT be bipolar so there's zero chance of dropping my score to ground level anyway. Oh well!

I just took it again too and got a 40. I still feel the same but the difference with the meds is that I seem to be able to take that split second before everything tumbles out past your filter and put myself in check. If that makes sense. Like, I will still feel like crying over stupid crap but can keep myself from freaking out. Or I can take a deep breath when my kid spills milk all over my hardwood floor instead of flying off the handle even though it makes me angry.
