Book sale at a library? Or used book stores sometimes have a really cheap section.

In some libraries, you should be able to get a library card with limited privileges even if you do to meet residency requirements - say, you would be able to check out a low number of books but have no access to ILL, etc. It is worth asking about that type of card. Actually, it has some benefits in keeping you disciplined!
Thanks for this!

my son is eligible for online audio books from the library because he's in special ed... but there's all this paperwork i need to complete, and i've been meaning to go to the library. maybe you could be eligible for something like that. I'm afraid my closest library will charge me for a card since I'm from the mountains and not the little perfect piece of *hit town, they'll take our taxes though. and i only have a dollar to my name... :/
that was sour of me, sorry sour mood, grrrr... hungry too grrr... dang libraries...
