i know there is a site to write poetry, im not writing a poem, i just want to say Im impressed on how many people write poetry. I was reading a post on hobbies and a lot of people stated they did this. I wrote a lot after my husband and i split, it was a great to release all those emotions I had inside. I also wrote some kids poems. So if u enjoy writing dont stop, I think its great

I love writing, I'd stopped doing it for awhile but I've been getting back into it lately. I'm glad you've also found it to be helpful.

Writing poetry can be a good way of expressing emotions.

I write peotry but not very often and I don't think it's a hobby. I have 2 published poems in those big anthology things (that are really more like scams to buy their books, LOL.)

I used to write a lot of poetry, though. But, mostly when I do it's pain poetry and not happy. I used to write my poems in spirals instead of straight lines. Because I was a weird kid. Haha.

I write songs, not so much typical poetry. sometimes it doesn't rhyme, but it sure sounds good with music. but that's the problem with just typing the lyrics, you can't hear the music and you also can't hear the way that the lyrics are sung. it sort of deadens the lyrics, takes all of the emotions out of them.
for instance:

It's a war
in my head
It's a war
that was spoon fed
TO ME

one by one
I listened to what they said
one by one
until I wished I was dead

but as I grew
I grew strong in my head
and soon I learned
it's not me that should be dead

WAR!!!!!!!!!!!

we stand together and we will fight

WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

no remorse... we will make it right

WAR
it's all that's left to do
WAR
it's what I live for
me and you

this chorus sounds dry and blah, but put it together with a double bass drum and a lead guitar and it sounds awesome.

but this is the kind of poetry that I am into so I thought that I would share.
