I had a tooth pulled yesterday-my last wisdom tooth, yes, I know I'm slower than most, I hate mouth pain! I was given hydrocodone and the pharmacist told me to drop or limit my klonopin use while taking the hydro. I took .5 klonopin (half usual dose) and a total of three hydrocodone during the night. I did not sleep at all! The pain was there, but not awful, so I wonder if my body is so dependent on the regular dosage of klonopin that I couldn't sleep. I thought that the pain killer was supposed to knock me out, no such luck. Meanwhile, no sleep and pain means that I couldn't go to work today. I'll bet I could have done so, well-rested.
I just took my usual dosage of klonopin-dropping the pain meds, and I am going to try to get some sleep!

I slept for five hours, klonopin only. I now know what my "go to" drug is!

glad you got some sleep but Id be wary of using both of those drugs together. I know you're used to vicodin but they both depress your breathing. I'm surprised your tooth dr didn't know about it when he prescribed the klonopin.

I'm on antibiotics. I'm trying to avoid mixing the other two. I haven't played around with narcotics for quite a while, and now with this prescription I am trying to be very careful. I'm still not balanced with the lingering depression, and my other health problems are still in the process of being solved, so the pdoc is waiting for these meds and procedures to get straight before changing other meds. I don't want to mess anything up. I just want peace. Also, I want a mouth, jaw, ear, and throat that aren't killing me!

I'm bad I would take both , but thats only because of my chronic pain. Of course there is always the Don't mix lithium with "Advil or Aleve" So I honestly think by the time you play by the rules and check your I's and crossed your T's , mostly likely whatever problem you were having has been resolved..

Just be safe

I hope life settles down for you, you so deserve some peace

Can't you just use Alleve or Advil? I prefer Alleve for tooth pain over Vicodan.

Wisdom tooth extraction is oral surgery, pretty serious stuff. Doubt an alleve would be enough, but of course everyone's different. Hope you're ok Blue, keep us posted.

I only take meds that I'm okay with the interactions I find Drug Interactions Checker | Drugs.com has better results then the one my pdoc uses.

Work was pretty rough today. Good in the morning with ibuprofen, bad in afternoon with pain. Forget the vicodin, I went straight to klonopin and ibuprofen yesterday, last night, and today. Alcohol may be added soon!
I'll just put the other pills away in my stash. I'm a hoarder when it comes to old drugs.
I have headphones in just in case my children start to fight.

That doesn't sound very pleasant! A couple of glasses of wine didn't hurt last night, but I did investigate first, and I read that 24 hrs. wait is recommended before alcohol.

It was the cold beer that entered my gums that blew my face up. it would have happened with cold white wine , but this was only a few hours after extraction .

why do you think klonopin is better for pain that vicodin?

I don't think it's better. It was just the sleep issue. I didn't sleep at all the night I had the tooth pulled, and I didn't take my full dosage of klonopin as advised by the pharmacist. I learned that a regular painkiller like motrin with my regular dosage of klonopin is a much better combination since it seems that I am one that doesn't sleep from narcotic painkillers.
