For some reason my sex drive went way up there. I am scared because last time that happened when a med was taken from me and i eventually ended up in the psych ward. But last time there were other signs of mania while this time it is isolated. Maybe it is hormonial but the gyno says there is no way to tell that and the gyno doesnt want to treat this problem. How can i tell hormonal problem from hypersexuality?

My sex drive used to explode during manic episodes. Have there been any med changes lately?

Sometimes my cycle brings out a strong libido too.

I think the 2 are very closely related. Hormone testing can confirm. See an MD who specializes in hormones if goes untreated by psych MD.

Hi,
I'm really surprised at ur OB. Before I was dx'd I thought something was wrong w/ my hormones. My OB tested my hormones w/o a problem. If u have a PCP contact them and ask if they can do it.

Stay strong

After this happened i had severe axiety and depression until i started bleeding. This same pattern of hypersex then psych symptoms then a period happened last january and i was hospitalized.

The problem is my psych doc just wants to give me another mood stabilizer and my gyn doc doesnt think it should be treated at all.

I don't know but have a feeling bp women get worse pms. I once posted about it and the feedback seemed to agree. So I think really could just be hormonal - or what about the weather - spring time is happy humpy time lol.

I hope you're ok - be safe since you know that this is potential hypo/mainia. Be careful about partners and stuff. And talk to pdoc, adjust mood stabilizer if you're worried.

Do yourself a favor and go see an endocrinologist. They will do more in depth testing than your OBGYN.

Here's a link with some info:
