so.. when i sign my emails, i always use my name- and then use the X as in.. you know, love you guys- thanks for reading, and stuff like that

anyway on 1 of my depression mailing lists, someone responded with my name.. but used the X next to it- like it was my last name
i had to explain... no the x is the love cymbol, it's not my last name!. if it was, i'd be more of a super hero- and i'm not 1 of those, for sure

just thought it was amusing and put a smile on my face
Thanks for this!

My true name starts with X, so I use it in everything. I like to sign things as X. I don't think of it as a love symbol unless it's next to an O, LOL (Like hug and kiss.)

Here's a funny thing. Once I had a poem published in one of those big anthologies (which are more like scams because they just want you to buy their book and tons of crap with your poem on it.) Anyway, on the page to fill out how I wanted my name to appear, one box was first name, one middle name, and one last name. So, I put first and last name but left the middle one blank. Next to middle name it said middle name (optional.) But I left it blank.

When the poem came out, it was published with Optional as my middle name. It was pretty funny. So, out there are all these anthologies and my middle name is Optional.

Both very funny indeed

So with some email programs, when you try to make a smiley face with : ) , it comes out as "J" after you've sent it.

I wrote to a guy I liked quite some years ago, starting with Hi .. blah blah blah... that I loved him this and that. He wanted to know who J was! I tried to explain that I don't know a J and was only talking to him... he didn't believe me lol. So that didn't last oh well, acronyms and icons gone wrong!

Oh no!

I've seen that before, where it turns a smilie into a J. Once my husband asked me why I always put extra J's in things. LOL.

LOL! And I've wondered too why people who's names don't start with J, sign their name with J , then realize they're doing a smilie ... sheesh you'd think they'd fix that by now.

I have two poems published in those anthologies. The first one in 1998, but the one where my middle name is "optional" was actually a full page in 2006. O.o I wish I could remember the name of the stupid company because they used to all be posted online too.

I didn't buy the book, or the mug, or the keychain, or the framed copy, or the plaque, or the t-shirt, or the mouse pad, or the ticket to their convention in Las Vegas, or any of the other stuff.... that's why it's cool to get published, but it's also a scam.
