I usually don't do this but....
It's my bday and I've had a few drinks. I'm hoping a episode doesn't visit me.

I hope not, too, Coco, but that's a risky thing to do. Maybe you'll be lucky this time
and have no side effects. Hope so. Take care. |

Warning: DRINK A LOT OF WATER OR YOU WILL GET A SUPER SUPER TERRIBLE HANGOVER.
I have a really low tolerance for alcohol because of the medication but enjoy drinking on occasion. I learned the hard way (recently) that not drinking enough water will give me a super horrible hangover. Boyfriend says that I am a little more aggressive and moody for a day or two after drinking. If you can help it, try not to do anything stressful and remember to stay hydrated. ALSO! Check your medications to see their interaction with alcohol. If its something that has an alcohol warning, don't take it the night you drank and resume normally the next day. (This varies among people. Some will take medication, but my boyfriend said it isn't as effective if you are drinking so I just omit it for the night. I don't experience med sensitivity from missing a dose, either.) BUT MOST OF ALL!!!! DRINK PLENTY OF WATER! ![]() |

If I were to have a episode would it happen right after drinking or a few days later?

I was already on the verge of mania when I drank, so I have no idea if it got worse from that or not. It was at it's worst a few days after, though.

I agree, I always down a liter or two before bed if I've been drinking regardless of being on meds. You can have a good time (alcohol dehydrates you) and skip the hangover (dehydrate before bed). It doesn't work well if you try to dehydrate the next morning. But a high protein breakfast the day after is good. Or even a banana & peanut butter smoothie if you don't feel like eating breakfast. I hope it was worth it, that you had fun and have no ill effects.
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! ![]()

Mine usually happens the day after, but I think being smart/taking care of yourself can prevent it.
Occasional alcohol consumption is fine, according to my pdoc.

I've had some drinks here and there, I personally wouldn't worry about triggering an episode, so much as interfering with meds/side effects.
I would suggest what others have, in terms of hydrating, etc. to avoid a nasty hangover. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! ![]() |

My Pdoc and My T said it's fine if I have a drink here and there. I have a bottle of wine in the fridge right now.
In my opinion there are many worse things that I could do.
