I know I really should be asleep and I feel tired but I just can't sleep. I know I'll have to wake up soon to feed the baby and he doesn't sleep well during the day so a nap then is out of the question so I really need to be asleep already.
Worried I might be getting manic again... Want to ring up friends and chat even though its too late to do that.

now that you have identified it, the question that faces us all is, what are we going to do about it?
that's what my wife would say, anyways...lol it would be a bad idea to force sleep with medication with a little one around.... and that's really the only advice I have, is to force sleep. I can see that in this situation.... coping skills with the hypo are the best bet. turn on your defenses full force and just make it through these times. I'm sorry that is the only advice that I have... good luck! Jeff |

Thanks
![]() It helps to know that someone is listening. I can take sleeping pills on Monday when hubby gets back. Meanwhile I've just got to get through the next couple of days.

Hi!
I like his idea. To force yourself to sleep. I find that if you just lay there sometimes you can just drift off. I am sorry I don't have better advice either, because I get very manic sometimes and just can't sleep. If its really bad I start pacing in my room to wear myself out. You need to wear yourself out so you can sleep.

Sometimes if you can't sleep, it is sometimes better just to lay down in the dark and close your eyes or even just stare at the ceiling. Try to keep your breathing at an even pace and keep gearing your thoughts away from anything negative. You could even put in ear phones and listen to very soft and soothing music that is cheerful.
I know how hard it is to lay still with racing thoughts. but with the baby you need to rest as much as possible. This has worked for me before, as long as I keep my thoughts out of negative zones. If I allow negativity in it drives me up and to my computer instead.
