So my live in boyfriend (who I've been with happily for over 2 years) is leaving me for the summer to work in another state

He's leaving tomorrow and I'm getting really nervous/anxious/worried. He's basically my ROCK and he is always there for me through all my crazy BP ups & downs. He gives me the space I need when I'm manic, and comforts me when I'm depressed, and is always there to listen to me when I need to yap about my problems lol.

Anyway... my rock is leaving me for almost 2 months and I'm super upset about it My therapist told me to create a "plan". Basically a list of things that I can do to keep myself occupied, distracted, and "happy" while he's gone.

Currently I'm unemployed (looking... but unfortunately haven't heard back from anyone.) I'll also be starting summer school in a few weeks. So, so far all I have on my list for my "plan" is:

-Go to school, (get an A!)
-Look for a job
-Try and hang out with friends (movie nights, lunch, dinner)
-Find a new book to get into & read it cover to cover (any suggestions?)
-Take advantage of our netflix account
-Start eating better/go to the gym

& that's about it! I'm a pretty big homebody, although I do love to hang out with friends once in awhile when I'm feeling social. I'm looking for any ideas of things I can do at home (or outside) that I can do to keep my mind active and keep from slipping into a state of depression.

What do you all like to do for fun or as a hobby?
Hugs from:

What kind of books do you like to read?

Is there anything that you enjoy doing that your bf doesn't? Chances are, you haven't spent as much time doing that as you might have wanted to! So get caught up on those sorts of indulgances.

Any major chores/projects needed around your place that you could work on to get finished as a surprise for him when he gets back? Like repainting a fence or something?

I agree. Watch all the shows and movies your boyfriend would normally groan about and enjoy it. Also, eat all the meals he normally doesn't like.

Your plan sounds good to me as it is. I think the key is to stick with it and remember the situation is only temporary.

I was also going to suggest a garden. I find this soothing. Swim? Walk? Make something for bf on his return?(if you sew, knit, crochet, carpentry)---write, exercise for sure, indulge yourself with small treats (nice soaps/lotions/get a massage/...) dance to music around the house...
and do find a book that you can get into----a big one! Good luck!! School will help, may be some things to do there...
