When this whole thing got started I was diagnosed as Major Depressive Disorder, now it's Bipolar II. I found out when my pdoc order some labs. I've had a few weeks of feeling good. And now its on the down hill spiral. I didn't think I really was bipolar.... and then ever few weeks I notice the increase in doing things, and then the sudden dip down a few weeks after that. Could this patter even without a manic period be actually hypo-mania.. I just don't know.

I would look at whether your over productive and what your family and friends think about your mood and productivity.

My diagnosis went pretty much the exact same way. I don't think I've ever been truly manic - but have had hypomania, which was really obvious

I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder first, too. It took three years after that original diagnoses to be diagnosed with Bipolar I. How they took so long when full mania was present at least twice, I don't know.

I'm having the same trouble getting mine pinned down, too. I guess it's the OCDish part of me that wants a number assigned to my diagnosis, when the reality is that pdocs supposed to treat the SYMPTOMS and not a numerical value. I want it all neat and tied up with a bow, is that too much to ask? Hahaha!!
It's changed a couple of times, from NOS to a squishy 2 and back to NOS. However, I'll probably end up with the BP 1 designation since I've had a major mixed episode, plus full-on mania. Dunno....it's all bipolar, and it's all a pain in the patoot.
