I remember, I was going to ask this a long time ago, but I don't think I ever did... As I am very interested in psychology, due to my own illness... I was wondering if this happens with anyone else?

When I get manic, or very excited, I find I have to jump up and down and clap, or do something with waving my hands to get rid of tension in my body. I just do it without thinking too much about it, but I have enough control that I only do it when I'm alone.

Does this happen with anyone else?

It's like dancing on your own...I think that we all do it when we are excited.

Dancing, doing the "your football team got a touch down" arm pump, and I guess the best way to describe it is the hand jive lol. Like dhctza said it might be the excitedness. Sometimes for me it's just a bills up of energy that I HAVE to get out. Like when a cat just sprints across the room. You have to or you're going to explode

If I don't move when I need to move I feel very bad. In fact I need to get off my computer now and put my hands in motion with some dish washing, because I'm starting to feel sick.

When I can't sort out the thoughts in my head cause they're flying around too much I often shake my head .. apparently it's an attempt to shake the thoughts out? who knows.

But if I'm in a great mood and feel like moving around? I do! My students find it funny when I'm bopping around to whatever songs I'm playing (I play music if they're doing something which doesn't require much concentration). Earlier in the year I actually had them remark on a LACK of this - was in a depression and they noticed something was off! lol

Sometimes. But, often what happens to me instead is I pace like crazy. I talk to myself and pace when I'm super excited (or upset) or need to get out excess energy. There's a term for it which I can't think of right now.
