I did a course a while back when I was majoring in Education, that involved teaching exceptional students. There was a valuable lesson that my instructor taught us that I carried over into my personal life. That lesson was on how to address students with exceptionalities. The lesson: The student is a person first who has an exceptionality. In other words, the student is not bipolar. The student is a person who has bipolar disorder. Food for thought.
