I always get into my art when I am this UP!
Creativity just seems to flow so easy
Anyone else out there get the creativity blitz when they are in an up swing?
If so, what mediums do you use?
I am a dabbler... was out taking photo's this morning.... worked on an oil painting I started a month ago around noonish.... and just made a collage... woooooooo

I'm liking being up... been awhile. Even though I know it will come to a crashing end. I am just gonna enjoy the ride!

I too am a dabbler. I was working with charcoal this morning and later in the day made a bipolar-themed digital painting, now I'm writing fan fiction (X-men! Woo!!) But usually I do things like pencils, watercolor, and oils. Charcoal and digital is something I rarely work with.

I definitely do too. And also many many different mediums. Pastels, acrylics, pencil/pen, photography, collage, scrapbooks, sewing, knitting... you name it... I have probably taken it up at one time or another.

I'm not going to lie... I'm kind of jealous of you right now!

Enjoy it!

Ah! Comic reminded me of fan fiction! Mine was Harry Potter... back in the day. A few years ago my computer crashed that had ALL my stories on it. I literally cried.

And you reminded me of sewing!

Aw, that sucks about your fics. I would cry too if that happened to me. The last one I worked on was literally novel-length. The one I'm working on is only gonna be novella-length, but that's still over 30k words.

I can't write worth s***, but I paint textural acrylic abstracts like no-ones biz when I am up. I finished 5 in the past month, two large (5ftx4ft). When I am waiting for my layers to dry i make beaded bracelets and complicated food. I am the oddball who actually buys any produce/ingredient that I cannot pronounce or haven't heard of...just to try it out (only when I am hypo though). Carry on Jadedbutterfly!!! Sounds like fun. We should have some sort of a "virtual art gallery" here on PC : ).

I write and write and write and sometimes I write, then I usually end up deleting it when I come down in a day or two.

Yes...when I do like five paintings in a day I know it's an upswing. I like watercolor acrylic and oil pastel typically made from my own photos of flowers.

Writing is my medium as well, and like you, I delete most of what I write. My t has asked me to send her my writings before I delete these, and I do email them to her. She constantly asks me if I have considered publishing some of my works. No way! Most of these are deleted, thank you computer! Meanwhile, I have many poems and journals that I must deal with. I do not want my children to read these, so I will at some point destroy them.

Writing, sewing, drawing, sometimes I'll paint, photography, photo-editing, photo manipulation.... once or twice scrapbooking..... last really "creative" phase for me I designed an entire world for a DnD game.... (including two kick-butt excel sheets!). In December I was doing Christmas crafts. I made a TARDIS out of yarn. (not knitting, I don't know how to knit)... Once I bought a small bonzai tree and attempted to figure that out.... umm.

I tend to end up with random urges and will be happy as a clam for a bit.

I have been an artist for quite a few years. I'm Bipolar II and don't get many of the highs, but I work on my artwork almost daily, like a form of therapy-plus I want to improve. I draw mostly, but everyone is after me to use colour, even though to me, I haven't mastered what I'm doing in black and white yet. Everyone else says so, but I think you have to be happy with your own work first. I quit for a year or so when everyone still lived with me, because I was so depressed, I didn't even care about that, and when I picked it back up, my p-doc was thrilled. He said it was a very positive step in coming out of the depression, and it does help with it. So I draw, everyday, even if it's just quick sketches in the book I carry.

Do any of you share your work....
with people in your chosen family? with your T? sell it? display in public?

Most of my work is abstract.
I have shown some with my eldest daughter... she get's it. Don't show to any other family members. And my friend, bless his heart...doesn't understand it lol
Have brought in many pieces through the years to my T, I guess I trust her enough to not judge.
Never have sold, never wanted to.
Once displayed some of my oil pastels in a local library, got positive feedback ... but then some jerkface(s) (being nice) made a small tear in two of them arghhhhhh

I have it up on the walls so friends see it. I also have some of it up on deviant art. The photos get a much better reception than the rest of my art but on that site realism and digital and anime seem to get the best reception. Never sold anything...don't think I could at my current skill level.

Been writing on and off since 1985 but have yet to be published. A major publisher had some interest in a novel in 1988 but that fizzled. A few producers looked at some screenplays I wrote but they passed on them. Had one satirical story accepted by a small magazine, then the magazine folded. Haven't written for several months but my computer is chock full of bits & pieces of novels and short stories.

Everyday I tell myself I'll get back to them but everyday I feel so lousy and overwhelmed that I just let it slide. I know I should write, even if I feel lousy and overwhelmed and sleep deprived. Anyone see Woody Allen's 'Midnight In Paris'? Great, funny, inspiring film if you're a creative person or even have an itch to create.
Thanks for this!

Intergalactictraveler....I have seen it and I found it inspiring as well. I also love the feature film about Jackson Pollack, though I find some parts of the film triggering. I just love his refusal to conform reflective of my own approach internally. I will not do artwork that appeases others, i do what i do because that is what my heart tells me to do.

i write a lot. the last time i was manic I thought my writing was magical and could cure people's unhappiness. i would give anything to feel like that again.

i also do crafty things like hemp bracelets and stuff.

I do abstract art with markers and ink sometimes adding another medium. I also write poetry. I finished ten paintings within a three week period when I was manic this spring. They are awesome! I had them hanging in a coffee shop and sold one. I have a two inch thick folder of poems that I have written over the years. Ever since I've been on meds I haven't felt artsy, but not depressed either. I am moving and all my art stuff is packed up so we'll see once I am settled.

Good for you for having a happy arty day! I am happy for you!
