My pdoc changed me from Latuda to Zyprexa, I am on day two of Zyprexa and it completely knocked me out. I took it at 9pm and woke up at 8:30 was only able to work for 45 mins then had to call out because I was so out of it. I couldn't think or pay attention for the life of me. Has this happened to any of you? Or is this something that I am going to have to adjust to? Any input would be helpful.

Hi there! I am quite hypo now on 5 mg zyprexa. How much Zyprexa are you on? And how long before you plan to go to bed are you taking it? I just went to a good doctor (just for this one time) and she said I should take it 3 hours before I plan / expect to sleep so that the hangover will be less noticeable. I think it's working, but of course I don't know for sure since I am hypo.

I am used to getting 1-2 extra hours of sleep from 5 mg. And more from 10 mg.

Not everyone has the same reaction to zyprexa.

I've been using it for two years and it's a wonder drug. The lithium/zyprexa combo works great for me.

But when I was hospitalized, they put me on such a high dose I was a walking zombie for several months before I could lower the dose and regain clarity.

It's like that at first or when you up the dose. Just take it easy. I started at 2.5 now I'm at 10.

I am on 10mg and I take it at about 9 and get up at 8:20am it also gives me really bad dry mouth.

Thank you middlepath, I sure hope things get better soon, who wants to talk to or be friends with someone who is always depressed.

I slept like a rock on Zyprexa. Best sleep I ever got in my life. It also kicked manic butt!! Unfortunately, I also gained >20 lbs in a few weeks and my blood sugars went ape-s***, so I had to go off. I hope you have better luck than I did, because it's miracle stuff.
