My right thumb has developed a twitch whenever I get the slightest bit anxious. My left leg right behind my knee does it sometimes too but the right hand is the most noticeable.

Is this common? I don't think it's a medicine thing because I definitely notice a difference when I am anxious. It's been going on for I'd say at least three months.

I think meds can induce this too.

I would mention it to your doctor even if you think it might not be med induced, just to be safe. If it is med induced those twitches can become permanent. It's kind of scary. When Abilify was causing me to fidget all the time and give me those weird attacks, I completely didn't realize it was the abilify doing it. I stopped the abilify when I found out I wasn't supposed to take it while breastfeeding. It was only after I stopped the med and those attacks and things stopped that I put the two together.

Oh that's scary. The hand twitch is really noticeable - I have caught people looking at it. It's happened in front of my BOSS who was like o.O. I will bring it up to my psychiatrist when I see her next week.

Oh yes, if other people are noticing then you definately need to bring it up. I remember very clearly me and my mother-in-law were watching t.v. and I was tapping my feet, and my fingers, and just the constant fidgeting. She looked at me and said, "What the hell is wrong with you?" LOL. I'm sort of fidgety by nature, so for it to draw attention was a big deal.

Hi.

Your medication(s) may be causing these. I experince muscle spasms & eye lid twitches with any SSRI. Let your doc know.

Hope you feel better.

Updated my signature (I hope this works!) with my meds in case anyone sees any obvious red flags.

My 13-year old son, bp and on meds, has a very bad head twitch when he is in what he would consider stressful situations-even fun is stressful for him if he doesn't know what to expect. He went to camp a couple of weeks ago and came back with an awful twitch. He had a great time! Similar incidences have happened in the past.
Finally, after two weeks, the twitch is very seldom, if at all, so I believe that his twitch is mood disorder related.
