So the doctor prescribed zonegran today! Is this am effective Med?

I've never heard of it but it's in the same class as other mood stablizers.

I've not heard of zonegran but if it is being compared to Topamax, I'm not sure that would make me feel all that hopeful. Just this week when discussing medication options, my psychiatrist said that not only is Topamax not FDA approved for bipolar (that fact by itself wouldn't necessarily keep me from being hopeful) but it hasn't really shown to be that effective or promising of a treatment for mood stabilization.
