When I was a child I used to hear voices, not really people just thoughts and ideas flooding into my brain. Time would seem to slow down and reality distort. I have not had one of these episodes for at least 40 years. Today while wide awake but very tired due to poor sleeping I had one, it was just as I remember it and brought back many bad memories. It scared me. Am I about to lose it ?

I think you should definitely tell your pdoc about it if it still continues. But do not panic about "losing it". Panic about it will make the episode worse. Try something called mental noting. Just note your thoughts, but don't judge them as good or bad. Just note that it's there. Try to do breathing exercise to quell the fear in the meantime. Hearing voices or having racing thoughts is scary but you don't have to suffer from fear as well.

Call your pdoc if you have one and let him/her know.
