About six months ago I had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, panic disorder, and ADD. My doctor prescribed me celexa, lamictal, adderall, and xanax as needed.

Prior to starting my medication I had been experiencing extreme periods of depression and my every aspect of my life was being affected by it.

Though I feel worlds better than I had prior to the medication, I've noticed now that I have been having more panic episodes than I previously had and have more random bouts of crying than I used to.

Is this normal..? Or should I talk to my doctor about these things? :/

Talk to your doctor but it can be normal for other aspects to worsen. Sometimes it takes a few weeks on the meds to level out. How long have you been on them for?

Therapy will help control the panic and crying periods. The medication is there to help you find new coping strategies. No medication can completely heal a mental illness, there is a hell of a lot of work you need to do too.

This is probably your new state of depression. Medicated depression feels so different to me because I was use to going right to 'black hole'depression that the lighter forms were lost on me. You may want to look into increasing your celexa by 10 mg.

Make an appointment, tell your doctor what is happening and he will adjust as necessary. You're too new at this to know what is right and what isn't. Never, ever, ever, ever adjust your medications without first discussing it with your doctor. You could inadvertently do damage to yourself.

We're talking brain chemistry here people. It's not to be taken lightly!

I've been on them since about January. We've been adjusting them a bit since then and we're still working on getting me to a stable place. I understand what you mean though about the different "kind" of depression. When I used to get sad I would go directly into a suicidal state of mind. Now it's much more mild.

Thanks for all the input, though! I'll make sure to talk to my doctor about this the next time I see her.
