I am new so I recently posted in a bit more detail in the new member forum. This afternoon I had a full blown melt down. I was kicking my car, walked away from my husband after cursing him out(in public)and started walking down the highway. This is not my normal behaviour. I am a professional in a very demanding position and I carry myself in a professional manner most of my life. Is this typical bipolar behavior or could it be something else? Its very frightening as im not sure what im capable of when im like that. Can my psych hold me on this? Im afraid to go in for fear of being held.

What you have wrote on your other post doesn't seem like a hold situation. Especially since you can see it was out of proportion so fast. Call your Psychiatrist or therapist tomorrow morning. If you have any as needed medication this is the "as needed" situation they're talking about. Ask for an as needed medication until your able to see your dr. If you can call in sick tomorrow are you having any other hypo/manic symptoms?

Welcome!

As was said, it doesn't sound like something you would be held on --I would be as honest as you can with your pdoc.

You mentioned in the Introduction section that episodes of rage have happened before, just not this bad. Do you have other symptoms when you feel this rage -insomnia, or anything else, or does it just happen on its own? Have you been diagnosed bipolar, or are they still trying to figure it out (it can often take some time)?

Since this was so much worse than other episodes, I hope you're able to see your pdoc as soon as possible to try to sort things out. Are you in therapy? A good therapist can be so helpful with all kinds of disorders and psychological issues. Best of luck and keep us updated!
