Hey all.
My Pdoc just gave me risperidone as an AP for my mild auditor hallucinations and paranoid thinking. My question is what have your all's experiences been with risperidone? Anything good? Anything bad? This is my first AP and I'm slightly worried about taking it.

I've never taken it myself but I have a client who takes it for schizophrenia. It does wonders for her. She functions right at her baseline when she's on it, but she's on a bunch of other APs too. The only side effect she has with the risperidone is that it makes her sleepy.

I take risperidone and it makes life more manageable and positive. I suffer from hallucinations and delusions daily and this med has decreased the severity of both of them. I still have them since I'm on a low dose, but I'm not having panic attacks from them thankfully. I take a lose dose since I also take xanax which makes me a bit tired.

I have taken it in the past. I didn't have any adverse side effects from it. My sister who is a nurse likes this med for control of hallucinations.

Both my husband and son took this it didn't help them really with their obsessive thinking so it was dropped. My son went up to 2mg before quitting.

I was on it with no major issues either. Didnt work for me as the doctors wanted it to so I changed, but I dont remember it being a "bad" drug for me.

I am currently taking 2mg a day and it helps slow my thoughts down. Not as anxious at bed time either which used to be a major problem. Have less intrusive thoughts about death and in general it has really helped me. One side effect.... - sorry to be graphic - but if I squeeze my nipple, I produce milk. But it's not bothersome to me. I would rather the good effects of the drug then to come of them because of that one reason! I am told it's nothing to worry about though.
