Hello, I am new here so please bear with me. I've been diagnosed with depression for about 8 years. I was currently on Abilify and Prozac (after trying so many SSRIs) and was doing well. I wasn't weeping or staying in bed all day etc,. But lately I have been having some issues with bad anger and irritability so my primary doctor sent me to a psychiatrist. She said I may be on the bi polar spectrum without the mania.. She kept me on the abilify (10mgs) and took me off the prozac and added trileptal 600 mgs (well working up to 600) to try and stabilize my mood. I've never been on this class of drug, so I am a little nervous. Has anyone taken trileptal with good results, especially with anger/irritability? I hate trying new meds, but something had to be done. I've never felt anger/irritability like this. Thanks for reading my book.

Welcome to PC. Sorry no one has responded to this yet; I hope you're still with us.
I haven't taken that particular med but I can relate to not enjoying the trial of new ones. I am especially sensitive to medications and have had them run the gamut from no change at all to hospitalization, from the side effects alone. SSRI's are especially out of the question for me.
I hope the medication is going well or, if not, you have found something effective. All the best. And thanks for writing your book for us to read.

I'm afraid I don't know what bipolar spectrum disorder without mania is. You can't be bipolar without mania, or at least hypomania. To be honest, I think some psychiatrists make things up when they can't identify what your actual issue is. Anger and irritability is associated with different times in the bipolar mood sing for different people. For me, anger and irritability are associated with hypomania and mania. For others, I have heard it associated with depression.
