Hey ladies I have a question! Have any of you noticed during a typical PMS for some women that yours is like extreme? PM replies.

Nope. I've got a very light cycle. Sometimes the week before I'll be a bit more teary and a bit more hungry, but I'm not moody and certainly not irritable or b****y.

I was. In fact, I was hell on wheels for at least a week before my period started. I was mean and nasty and angry. I didn't know then that I had bipolar, so my family and I just assumed it was a really ugly version of PMS. Funny how I never knew that's what it was until long after I passed through the menopause at age 47.....but I'm glad I don't have to go through that anymore, even if I AM still bipolar. Lol.

I used to be irritable and clumsy the week before my menses. My BF could tell when it was getting near that time because I stumbled more as we hiked in the woods. I've not heard others describe a change in their coordination during PMS but it was pronounced with mine.

So happy to be perimenopausal.

I have a huge link between hormones and bipolar. My first two pregnancies ended with severe depression. My last one ended with potpartum pyschosis. I'm on the depo shot now but still.get a little hypo every time the calendar says "it's tiiiiiiiiime!!!!!"

I am so glad someone brought this up, over the last few months I have turned into a monster with PMS. I know its hormones and not the 'normal' mood fluctuation because it gets worse the night before the bleeding starts, and once it does I am absolutely fine again.

I have extreme suicidal and self harm thoughts, sometimes acting on them, I am very agitated and the anxiety levels rise (although I have been able to keep this under control). I take out my frustration and anger on people that are closest to me and I find I get far more picky and judgmental. My mood doesnt always feel super low, but I do feel super pissed off. I get a lot of physical symptoms too but the mental ones are far more dangerous for me. It is driving me up the wall!

I have been researching and have found a few things that are supposed to help but I am unsure of interactions with psyc meds. Working out and avoiding sugar are things I have tried but I think I need something more.

What I have found that is supposed to help -
Calcium, Vitamin E, Magnesium, B-6, Chasteberry (I use this for moody mares and it works a treat so I hope it would help humans too), Evening primrose oil, fishoil, flaxseed oil, Black cohosh and valerian (which also works for my horses).

Next time I see my pdoc I am going to ask about interactions or what I could do to get this undercontrol. Its annoying to be doing so well then once a month lose the plot. Its starting to wear thin and my boyfriend is getting tired of it. I have been planning on getting the mirena but it is so hard to organise. Maybe now my boyfriend will help me with that since it got so bad last week.

I've only really dealt with my period for the past 11 years and it's not regular. I sleep for the 1st day in a half I sleep. nothing can wake me. I love swiss cake rolls only during this time. Mood wise I'm a bit more agitated.

I used to feel extremely depressed a few days before my period, when otherwise in a stable mood. That would only happen occasionally and now that I'm almost 48, that never happens (still not in menopause).

Hello all. I am new to this forum. I have been diagnosed before with anxiety, depression, psychosis nos & later on, I had the label of schizophrenia slapped on me. I have to take birth control to regulate my menstral cycle and just before I started this period, I felt weird. I have been paranoid, anxious, unable to sleep. Has anyone else had this sort of problem before? Also, I feel like some people I work with are having some fun messing with my head. I know that it is not all me. I am not hallucinating in any way, but I feel frightened and have racing thoughts.

The week before my cycle starts is utter hell. My emotions are always completely out of whack, I'm in a lot of pain...But it usually tapers off after it actually starts.
