My son recently started taking 1mg Risperidone for symptoms of psychosis. He has only taken it for 3 days. He said his symptoms have worsened. Is it possible that the symptoms could get worse before they get better? Or is that an indication that the medication is wrong for him?

Thank you!

It took about a week for me to see any improvement with risperdal.

I did end up seeing improvement though.

For me it got a little worse and I was always tired for about a week. after that it has worked wonders for me. I'm not even in the least bit paranoid anymore.

It took quite a while (over 2 weeks) for me to see a difference on Risperdal. A week after I started on it, I had a bad mixed episode, which was scary. But I have bp2, and am not taking it for psychosis, but for anxiety.
