I like to have wine. I really like bourbon (Jim Beam) and coke and in the hot summertime, I enjoy beer. I am not a big drinker in my opinion. But I have had two bourbon and cokes this evening and I feel great! Is this manic?? Not to mention that I shouldn't mix alcohol with my meds but I feel fine.

It really depends on what your tolerance level is, and what youre lifestyle is like.

Like... if I was to have a few drinks at home on my own? It wouldn't mean a whole lot. If I got drunk on my own it would be big. But just a few drinks wouldn't be anything for me. But I also have a fairly decent tolerance.

Well like A Red Panda says it depends.

I have a few drinks sometimes, and I sober up before I have to take my meds. I realize that the alcohol is not completely out of my system but since I don't drink all the time I can risk it.

If you feel really good, then enjoy it! LOL.

Its not really manic unless you dance all over your house while cleaning at the same time

I know my limits because I come from a family of alcoholics. I am not alone. My husband(better half) is here and I'm not a first-person....lol

Hmm I don't know from the bipolar side but you may just be having a good time. I know for me, drinking can go either way...really great or really bad. I have previously had a serious problem with alcohol though. I know drinking on my meds makes me feel awful now so it's no fun to do I am jealous of your fun, enjoy it!

If you suddenly feel great after a few drinks, it's probably not mania. You could be baseline and the drinks do what they would to anyone else.

My doctor says that there is nothing wrong with a couple of drinks now and then, it shouldn't interfere with your meds. Nutritionists will tell you that one 12 oz. can/bottle/glass of beer per day is good for you.
