My Pdoc does hypnotherapy and wants me to try it. I'm nervous. I guess just fear of the unknown.

Has anyone had this treatment? Did it work? What was it like?

I've had it. Extremely relaxing, I have never been so relaxed in my life. I would have kept going if not for the cost, but I didnt find any immediate benefits.

I suppose a bit of deep relaxation can't hurt. Thanks.

My T and I do alot of Hypnotherapy ... It has helped me with Bipolar and chronic pain .. It has also helped me to look back to when BP first impacted my life... age 6 .. Yes that was a huge surprise to me.

It often brings my pain down from a 9 to a 6 or 7 which is my normal. It has helped also when I get into a pattern of constant anxiety... It is the most relaxing thing ever.

It does take trust between you and your T..

Do you think it's the same as guided meditation? I do that with my T.

Where I'm sitting and breathing and she's gently talking and I feel like I'm in another world. It's wonderful.

I did hypnotherapy for my anxiety with a holistic therapist and it was wonderful, except for the cost. I tried it with a reg ther but didnt like it as well. I was attempting to alleviate the anxiety without antianxiety meds.

When I was first dx with clinical depression and GAD in 1987 my pdoc did hypnotherapy with me. It was great. It was really relaxing. And I was fully aware at all times of what was going on, so don't have any worries in that area. What he did must have been different than stage hypnosis like they do in Vegas and on TV.

i've only done this once, and it was a bad experience.

it never worked...... the person doing it said to me, well.. you obviously don't want it to work, and i'm like.. no, things don't work like that- it's not working, because my head is such a mess

i remember thinking later on in the same evening, what a bloody joke... some people just don't have a clue

but yes, it does seem relaxing and may go back to it
