Bipolar Hallucidations: Police & EMT

Anybody have a brush with the law because of their bipolar?

That is intense Moose! I def don't have any similar experiences. I usually am doing something rediculous when I have to talk to the police.....

I admit that I've back-talked them.

There was one time. Gosh, I don't even remember what they asked me. But they stopped me as I was walking. Guess I was acting strange. I don't remember. Haha. I do remember back talking them repeatedly. Surprised I wasn't put in the cruiser, to be honest. Pretty sure they ran my name. I have a hyphenated name. I guess they didn't find any dirt on me. They asked me repeatedly which name I use. I told them repeatedly the full hyphenated one. And yes, back talked more.

That, though, sounds intense. Far more intense than mine was.

The only times I've had to interact with the police because of my Bipolar is when they assisted the process during one of my hospital admissions. Seems they're the ones that drag you to be sectioned when you refuse to go peacefully.

my work had me taken off the street via police thru eap they were pleasant enough but handcuffs patrol car the whole bit..

Yeah, now that I look back on it, it was intense. At the time, though, I was so aloof and sassy. Maybe they could see that anybody who would sass a police officer just isn't right?

Through eap? Handcuffs. Yikes. These guys weren't mean just probably just thought "Batshit..."

Well a long time ago I was actually diagnosed with bipolar, they called it manic depression then, it was around 1989. Any ways I was drinking, no drugs, but was getting rowdy and got in a argument with my girlfriend at her apartment, she demanded I leave and I should have left but really was getting in to the moment and excitement of the argument. I guess I was a little to loud and I might have smashed a few things and she called the police. She told them I was a manic depressant and I was out of control. That's all they needed! I was hand cuffed and they took me directly to the hospital ED where I was evaluated by two doctors and admitted against my will! I raised such a commotion over that the whole time because I was so angry about what was happening to me. The held me down and gave me a shot that knocked my out! I woke up in a room with this skimpy gown with no back and naked under it. I felt so humiliated and that just agitated me even more! I refused to cooperate or talk to any one and might have spit in some of their faces. I was released the next day lol.

"I was released the next day". Lol Isn't that usually the ending to these stories? Not always, obviously, but still. I had to laugh. I bet they gave you Haldol. Thorazine maybe.
