I want to talk about my issues, but where do I begin? After reading up on bipolar disorder I feel like it fits me perfectly. I'm a mess, trapped. Clouded. I don't know who I am or who to be.

The best thing to do is talk about it, whether thats with us or a doctor who can get you pointed in a good direction. I understand how you are feeling. It sucks but just keep hangin in there.

Need to talk to someone? Confide in a friend or vent anonymously on this site or other forum.

need to talk to a professional? get a therapist or psychologist

You feel you may have a mental disorder? Describe your symptoms to your primary care doctor.

No one can tell you who you are or who to be.

Try to get a referral to a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner from your primary doctor. Then go from there. It may take a visit or two or three to get a diagnosis. Then come back here and let us know how it went!

As Moose said, if you're concerned about suffering from Bipolar Disorder, I would get a referral from your GP/PCP to see a psychiatrist. It may take some time to diagnose, as he/she gets to know you (in fact, I'd be wary of off the bat diagnoses), but it might help you to get a better idea as to what is going on. Bipolar Disorder is a very complex diagnosis to make as some symptoms can mimic, on the surface, symptoms of other disorders (or just 'life').

To understand more fully what is going on from a psychological standpoint, and have someone to talk to about these things, you can seek out the help of a therapist. You could get a referral from your GP or pdoc, if you get one. Best of luck.
