I saw my pdoc today. I didn't think I had much to say, since the zyprexa seems to be doing its job. I'm improved over last time I saw her two weeks ago. I'm still having hallucinations of cats, though. One moment they are there and the next they are gone. So when I checked out, I got the printout that reminds me of when my next appointment is. Printed in amongst my info was "Diagnoses associated with this visit: Schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type. Anxiety disorder". Never has she mentioned this before! And the anxiety? Yes I've had a lot lately but I don't remember telling her about it? So odd... So now I'm BP1 with schizoaffective? Or is this just for this one visit? I'm confused.

I am newly diagnosed with BP as well. Since it was treatment induced with. Prozac at a high dose, my pdoc said it was bipolar 2. This last time I saw her she wrote on the receipt bipolar 1! Maybe it is because she wants me to have blood work before prescribing depakote. I don't know, but it was very disconcerting.

I am not even sure I am bipolar! No one in my family thinks I am at all, including husband and kids.

I am struggling with this possible diagnosis and I have an appointment with another pdoc for a second opinion.

Has anyone else here felt that they were misdiagnosed?
Thanks for this!

A long time ago you mentioned one of the hospitalizations they changed your dx to Schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type. I don't remember if it was before or after they tried to change your DX to Bipolar with Borderline. If your therapist is talking to your psychiatrist then they could have recently changed it or since your most resent hospitalization. Another option is because you are still seeing cats she changed your DX because you are no longer in a moodswing. Schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type is bipolar with hallucinations or delusions outside mood swings. So it's one diagnosis. I think she probably looked through your history and changed your diagnosis recently and thought she had the conversation with you.

I would try not to stress about it I see Schizoaffective disorder, bipolar type as just on the more severe side of the bipolar spectrum.

I dont think im borderline and neither does my pdoc. They dismissed that last year. She never had a conversation with me about this. They all try to play it down anyway.

When did I say they changed it to schizoaffective disorder before today? The bipolar with borderline was in the hospital in Nov. 2012. I guess I'm forgetting.

I guess she thought she had the conversation with me. I did ask her if she's going to change my meds and she said not for now. She sees me in a month.
