Do any of you guys ever wonder where people come up with some of their names on this site?
Mine is my favorite inventor's name backwards.

Mine was " MoreThingsWrong" I felt it was fitting at the time .. But after a few months.... and I was able to learn tools and coping skills and got to know so many beautiful people..

They "not so gently nudged" me to make the Switch to " Christina"

I think our screen names speak volumes about ourselves.

I use, Gayleggg, because once I was trying to set up a user name on another site and I was new at it. I used my first name, gayle, and they wouldn't accept it, so I just kept adding g's until they did. So it has stuck with me when log on to sites. Now it doesn't work on a lot of sites because now they make you add numbers. I hate creating new user names.

Mine's a verse from an Emilie Autumn song. For some odd reason it just sticks out to me. I eventually want to get it tattooed around my wrist.

"Secretum" means "secret" in Latin. When I first got my account, I was hiding my mental health problems from my parents; it was a secret that I was struggling and on the site.

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question (my brain has been a little slow lately) but why is this thread titled "handles"? I don't get what handles have to do with screennames.

Handles were made up names people used to use on CB Radios, back before cell phones and bluetooth, to communicate with other drivers mostly. Even though, both my parents and I had a base station(one for home use) so we could talk to my dad and husband when they were working. They were short haul truckers. My handle was "Freckles" given to me by my dad.

LOL, no problem, here is a definition I found online.
In online chat, the name you use is often referred to as your screen name, or handle. So if you decided to name yourself MooCow123, that would be your handle. Handles are nice because they allow you to represent yourself without giving away your real identity. The term originated from CB radio, where people refer to each other by their "handles.

I specifically didn't want to use any of my common user names, and initially I'd chose CheshireCatGrin - but there's another member named CheshireGrin and I didn't want to keep getting confused with her.

So I switched it, and one of the options I gave was this one - red pandas are one of my favourite animals.

I worked at a wildlife rehabilitation clinic and I would give vaccinations to all the critters along with other care. My favourite animals that I took care of were the red foxes because they have such wonderful personalities.

I saw mine on a billboard on the Jersey Pike about 15 yrs ago. It was an ad for a gym or surgical procedure with an unforgiving profile of a woman and the question was "Are you sick and tired?" I felt like it was a sign specifically for me or something.
