Here are some of the adamant claims my OBGYN made during my appointment today:

- Lamtical is an antidepressant, and is surely the cause of my weight gain (not my bc). He has never known an antidepressant that has not caused weight gain.

- My Lamictal is not affected by hormonal birth control. If anything, the birth control is less effective because of the Lamictal.

- It is impossible that I felt better when on your placebo pills, because it doesn't work that fast. It must have been something else.

-Lo-loestrin fe has so little hormones in it, it couldn't possibly be having an effect on my meds or my mood.

.... Does any of this have any bearing? Or should I start looking for a new obgyn? Because right now my pdoc and obgyn are telling me totally opposite things and I have no idea what to do.

If you don't like your OB/GYN find a new one. This one seems " dismissive" I would dump him if it were me.

Dump that doctor. Get a woman.

Short, true story:

I was sick and in pain for 10 years with a male gyn. Switched to a woman and one month later I had a hysterectomy for endometriosis. The only reason she waited that long was because of my insurance company. When I woke up from the surgery I felt like a completely different person. My ovaries were the size of grapefruit. My abdomen was full of endometrial tissue.

Men do not understand and they most certainly do not understand pain.

Birth control is dangerous but docs won't tell you that. The first time I was ever in the hospital for a multitude of symptoms including panic/anxiety that I had never had before the doc told me that he thinks it was possibly the birth control I was on.

Hmmm....that may explain why I never tolerated BC pills. I tried several different kinds and they all turned me into a raging b!+ch. Didn't know I was BP then, but I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case.

I didn't start having mental health issues until I started taking birth control. Actually the funny or not so funny thing is , I didn't start having health issues until I got health insurance. Lol
