After you've been manic for even just a bit.....when you start coming down, do you feel exhausted??

Yep, so exhausted it's like I'm overtired and it's hard to switch off!

I get horribly exhausted, but I cannot sleep at all. It's awful. I usually go through a mixed-state period and I hate it more than anything ever. The worst thing for me is that most docs are so useless at helping then. I have to hit absolute rock, rock bottom and be sleepless, miserable and begging to put out of my misery before that "aha" moment.

I call it the "bipolar hangover", because that's what it feels like (minus the headache and nausea). It's because we expend SO much energy during mania, and when that energy is gone, we just collapse. Very common phenomenon.
