Are any of you prone to slip into hypomania or mania if you quit drinking alcohol? I know alcohol is a depressant … was wondering if anyone had experienced an elevated mood episode after abstaining from alcohol?
Thanks for this!

I got some racing thoughts and random bouts of giddiness. Couldn't say for sure if it's hypomania or not. Either way sobriety rocks

No, I've only felt more depressed.

Being sober made my meds work better. On the flip side it made me deal with a lot if repressed thoughts.

Alcohol can REALLY mess with moods. If you have only recently stopped it will take a few months to level out again. Once it has been a few months then you can honestly judge what it was doing to you. It is likely to feel happier once the alcohol is out of your system.
