My roller-coaster is currently going down and I find myself lacking motivation to do anything. I don't attend to my animals, don't look after myself.. but the worst thing is that i have a lot of uni work to do (I'm doing postgrad).
How are yous dealing with it? I try to force myself, but if I'm not in the right mood, nothing is happening.. Reading academic articles requires a certaind egree of concentration, and i find myself reading and realising I have no idea what I've just read.. Not even talking about writing, that's just not happening.

I think it's a bad thing if we dwell on our lack of motivation, and get frustrated about it. It feeds on itself. So sometimes we have to let it roll, as I'm learning. The harder I fight, the harder it fights back. Right now I too have no motivation to play guitar, read, workout, keep to a proper diet, dress decently or even look in a mirror. But my furry kids are everything to me. At all costs, I will take care of them, play with them, talk to them, cuddle with them. If nothing else, please tend to the animals, they cannot do for themselves.
Thanks for this!

my animals are reptiles, they are fine on their own. I still feed them and all, just don't pay them as much attention as I should..
blergh... I hate flatlining.. it's even worse than being down

Yes, reading academic articles does require concentration. The only thing I recommend is drinking a lot of tea. research shows that even a slight degree of dehydration diminishes mental acuity, and you need as much mental acuity as you can muster. Also, maybe go for a walk, with headphones on if you prefer. Do not dwell on the lack of motivation - do something else instead. Walk, load the dishwasher... something.
