Hello all,

I'm pretty discouraged about my med situation. At first I was on 600 mg of tegretol, 10mg of cipralex and 200mg of Seroquel XR. I noticed myself becoming happier, and the depression was wearing off. Then it began wearing off TOO MUCH...I noticed symptoms of mania. So I told my doctor.

I wanted to be put on another mood stabilizer, like lithium, but he refused because I can be impulsive, and apparantly they're easier to commit suicide with. So he cut my anti-depressant in half and increased my seroquel to 250mg.

Today I woke up feeling tired and depressed. When will the balance ever arrive? When will I feel "normal"?

In about 2 weeks.

I'm still working on my dr upping my seroquel last thursday. I had like 4 days of feeling like absolute crap. I'm starting to feel somewhat normal, almost.

Hang in there.

Is seroquel a mood stabiliser? What 's the active ingredient, and the overall impression from people that are one it? I hate Sodium Valporate! I want to feel like me again too.

Changes in medication can take several weeks to take affect. Hang in there.

Give it a little more time. Seroquel always made me too sleepy and "drugged" feeling but after a while that should wear off for most people. Sometimes it can take up to 6 weeks before you notice a difference.

Thank you everyone.

I tend to be impatient with letting the medication take effect. I'll need to let it take its time to build up in my body.

sugahorse - seroquel is an atypical antipsychotic. It's used for many things, including schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar, and more. For me it makes me less anxious, and less likely to become manic. Most people on it have good things to say about it, I think. It's really a good drug, if one isn't too affected by the side effects. It has some unpleasant ones, like drowsiness and appetite increase.

I hope the new med combo works for you!! It can take a long time to find the right combination; try to hang in there!

Its taken my years and years and still no combo thats perfect. I hope it doesnt take you as long though. In the past I have found that there would be some combos that work great with minimal side affects but it seemed like after a couple of years of taking them my body became resistant to them so I would have to change. Good luck on finding something that works and makes you feel as close to normal as we can get!

For me, Serequel is the only drug that makes me sleep through the night, Epitek in the morning and afternoon helped me to wake up during the day. Good luck, I have just started Ciprolex 10mg adde to the other two and on day two of it now, I feel awful!! Just stick with it all, unfortunately it takes a few weeks before you know if you are on the right meds

Seroquel was too potent for me. It was supposed to help me sleep, it didn't. It's taken about three weeks of gabapentin to feel the full benefit of a good nights sleep.

It really does take time for meds to take effect and stabilize. As for Seroquel, I find it extremely helpful. It does everything it's supposed to do.
