So as much as I love my dog and his unconditional love... He really has bad breath. I'm not sure what to do. He won't eat the doggie breath mints I bought him. He gives really good kisses with lots of tongue and drool so that's a good thing but the breath... Maybe I should take him to the dentist? I can tell it breaks his little furry heart when he licks my face and I gag from the smell. I try to pretend it doesn't bother me for his sake.

... probably needs his teeth cleaned by a vet and maybe an antibiotic to clear up bacteria around his gums.

My dog has really bad breath too, she has never let me brush them. I've had the vet do it a couple of times but now I'm afraid to because she is 15 yrs old and I don't want to put her under anesthesia unnecessarily. I figure at this stage of her life I will overlook the bad breath. As long as she's happy!

Bad breath in pets is usually a sign of something going on internally. I found this out with one of my cats. It turned out to be an abscess. Even if it just a teeth cleaning I would take them to the vet.

My dog was like that until I had his teeth cleaned last year and a few bad ones pulled. He was fine until I had to put him down a year later for something totally unrelated
