My ex 2nd husband could not tolerate perfume, and I got so used to not wearing any scents that only recently, several years past divorce, I resumed. And I take great delight in senses. I have just recently started burning incense and scented candles - not all scents are delightful, but those that are, are SO delightful. We already have spring in NoCal, and going outside with that burst of scents from blooming flowers renders me intoxicated for a second. And I have a memory of scents - I remember how the flowers smelled in my grandparents' house 40 years ago.

I wonder if it is a gift that comes with this disorder.
Thanks for this!

I have heard that people with BP have heightened senses. My solfactory perceptions are odd, in that I can only pick up on some scents and not others. For some scents, I have heightened perception, whereas there are other scents that I will pick up on long after other people have, or not pick up on at all. But yes, I do have a strong memory of particular scents -- particularly those that I associate with my grandmother (who passed away 10 years ago). Roses, lavender, and sandalwood. Nothing soothes me like those scents.
Thanks for this!

Interesting question.

I was wondering about this the other day actually, when I was buying some nice smelling shower gels and ended up buying those designed for men. I always envied guys for having more exciting fragnances, but I wrote it off to me being... you know not-so-heterosexual.

when i wear perfume... I go for the spectrum my friend call "harem *****". My fave perfume IS actually called Harem. Needless to say, I purchased few "decent" lady like, light perfumes, if i need to smell presentable.

For intences beside the classic lavander and citrusy smells (I been told my an prof aromatherapist i should use these to balance me out), I love the heavy stuff, like opium and such.
