I've JUST been diagnosed with bipolar 1, PTSD & ADHD. I don't know what to expect. I can't be like this anymore! I've not been prescribed meds yet. I hope what they give me makes me normal (MY normal, not societies )I can't wait for the day I laugh again, clean house, cook, take care of my family, even not argue with myself about just taking a shower! I've been messed up so long(7 yrs )my kids are following in my footsteps! Im looking for support, resources, anything that will help. Im looking forward to meeting myself again. I HATE this stranger!

I think we all wish for the day when we were are old selves. It can take a long time to get the right combo of meds or you might get lucky right off the bat. Best of luck to you.

How long have you been in the Mental Health System and how many Psychiatrists have you seen over the years? BP is a difficult diagnosis to make.

I.too have bp. Ptsd and adhd. You will find relief it's just going to take a little bit of time. I can totally relate to yr desire to be able to cook clean.laugh taking care of.yr family and showering. That's why I felt compelled to write you. You sound like I have. I've gotten alot of relief for my adhd, ptsd and bp.from meds and good therapy. Only one that's hard to overcome is the depression. It sucks to feel so bad and I'm so sorry yr struggling right now. You'll find alot of support here, at least I have. If you want to you are welcome to.private msg me anytime. Our normal is so much better than societies normal! They don't realize how much help they need too..lol

I think BP and BPD and ADHD have overlapping symptoms. IMO misdiagnosis between the three must happen. So I would expect your diagnosis is preliminary and subject to change over time as your pdoc learns more about you and your response to medications. At least that is what has happened to me.

I have a very similar diagnosis and am becoming fairly functional now that I'm on the right meds. It can take time, but if you advocate for yourself you'll eventually find a combo of medication that lets you do the things you need to do.
