Does anyone else shop way more than they should? Like so much that you neglect bills????

Of course. That's part of illness. I have shopped myself into a hole I'll never get out of.

I have decided it is Amazons fault.

I am always 1-click away from purchasing my way to financial disaster. It does not help that I receive the item frequently by the next day. I went through thirty thousand dollars in one year on my spending sprees. I then found that plastic bends...the plastic of my credit card. It is right now tied into several knots due to multiple spending binges. I am treading water now, able to just make a bit more than the monthly required payments.

I was able to salvage what was left of my bank account in a moment of clarity. I took almost all my money and placed to in securities that locks me away from the money for a significant period of time. This and my new MS has helped. Now I have resumed paying my bills. I hope this does not ruin what was once a pristine credit rating!

PS: I am glad the money I have saved up for my daughters future has been made inaccessible to me. Her mother has made sure of this.

Yup. AT one point I was in £24,000 worth of debt... it's now half but the urge to shop can be strong....when I start to feel it I pass my card over to my best mate to look after until it's passed...it does not stop me altogether but it slows me down big time as she also checks my ebay and amazon accounts for spending and tells me off. She is also listed as on my care plan so she can call my doc if needed!!!

Oh, yeah...

My husband handles all the finances now and I've locked up all my cards. It's just safer that way.

I spent us into bankruptcy not once, but TWICE. My son-in-law calls it "bipolar shopping". I used to get us so deep in the hole that we spent almost as much in overdraft fees as we did on bills.

That doesn't happen anymore. Other than a thousand-buck spree in Wal-Mart a couple of summers ago, I haven't done anything near as bad since I've been adequately medicated. I still have episodes where I'll blow a few hundred bucks on clothes and personal items I don't really need, but the bills get paid for the most part and we haven't been overdrawn in more than a year.
