I've recently been playing around with the idea of starting a publishing company to publish some of my writing (the bipolar book I'm working on and two old novels). I think it would be nice to work for myself, to make a living off of my words. As the company grows, I could publish other people's work as well, both fiction and nonfiction.
I could do a lot of good with this publishing company, by getting information on MI out into the general public and spreading awareness. If the company does well, I've have the money (i.e. the POWER) to implement some of my crazier ideas. All my life, I've wanted to do something awesome. I've wanted to work hard at something to make the world a brighter place. Maybe this is it? I'm just nervous because of the lack of security. What if my books don't sell? Not to mention, who am I to think I have what it takes to run a company? I'm only 22, just graduated from college. I haven't taken a business class in my life. I have no clue how these things work. My dad owns a magazine publishing company; I'm thinking of asking him if I could help out with his business over the summer so that I can get an idea of how a publishing company is run. I'm just afraid he'll think this is a ridiculous, crazy idea.

My husband published his book through Lulu. It's on amazon as well as local books stores.
