BPD is borderline personality disorder.

My first psychiatrist wondered because I have a history of abuse, but several bpd specialists and my current psychiatrist as well as the most recent hospital docs say definitely not. I'm glad, when they were evaluating me for bpd they treated me absolutely horribly.

I do have co-morbid bipolar and GAD, as well as Gender Identity Disorder, and I've been diagnosed with Asperger's, though not every doctor agrees with that.

Well Ive had bipolar dx for a long time but got the bpd dx last yr in hospital. I was there several times and had same dr each time. My dr now I said I don't think I have bpd and she says she CAN see them both. In different aspects inside me.

No, but my Father has recently been diagnosed with BPD. For me its he BP and OCD. I don't want anything else thrown into the mix...its hard enough understanding who/what and why I am now!

She doesn't think you have it but she can see it?

It's possible to have borderline traits without the full diagnosis.

I saw a 4 different pdocs, and 4 addictions docs within a 6 month period a couple of years ago, and there was some disagreement on my diagnosis. Everyone agreed on bipolar. Some thought that i was substance dependent, and some thought i used because of a mixed state. A couple of the docs questioned bpd, but most of them didn't think so. My regular pdoc, who i trust the most, thinks bipolar, substance use because of mood episode recklessness, and no bpd. I think the bpd label gets thrown around if you are in any way a difficult patient, for example i questioned my doctors a lot because the decisions they were making affected my ability to keep my nursing license.

In my own opinion, i agree with bipolar, substance abuse but not dependence, and possibly some borderline traits, but not the full disorder.

My pdoc says it's not bpd if the impulsive behaviors and mood instability respond and stop with meds. I have really good functioning between episodes. I think i had a lot more bpd tendencies when i was younger, but i had a lot of therapy and i grew out of it. Unfortunately i haven't grow out of bipolar, and i don't think that is likely to occur.
