I had to go to this hoity-toity lunch at work today.

I have really bad tremors from the meds.

I tried so hard to hide my hands to avoid people asking questions.
Also, I work in an industry well known for drug abuse

Does anyone have these?
How did you handle it?
Did they go away, ever???

Your pdoc can prescribe a med to take as needed for tremors. Mine prescribed Inderal. Seems to work pretty well and doesn't seem to interfere with or cause any other issues.
Thanks for this!

I used to, but the reductions in my med take are making it better.

I have the same issues with shakiness and tremors, both at rest and intentional.
For me, this is the lithium as culprit in my demise.

I know how annoying the tremors are for me alone. I haven't a social life anymore.
So I can appreciate your grief in trying to cope with this socially. No fun.

If I can ever get any medical care coverage in this State, I hope to see about getting lithium blood levels and a rx to try to counteract the tremors and shakiness.

I hope that you get some relief soon.

I have hand tremors and work as a barista...hot coffee, etc. Yeah, many times I'm embarrassed about my tremor. If someone says anything I just tell them tremor runs in my family.

I've developed some tremors lately myself, probably from being on 2 different APs. But they're hardly noticeable unless I'm really tired, and I'd rather have a little bit of shakiness than a mood episode like the one I just came out of.

I had horrible hand tremor on Depakote and I know that I lost an interview for a position for which I had a uniquely fitting resume due to this. I also lost a teaching audition - the marker trembled and shook in my hand, spurring an anxiety attack. It was horrible. Normally, I am poised at the white board, but the tremor did a number on me. I eventually discontinued Depakote and the tremor went away, though it took awhile.

There is no antidote to tremors caused by Depakote. If the tremor is caused by antipsychotics, though, there are antidotes medications, e.g. Cogentin.

My doctor sent me to a neurologist. He said that I had a moderate case of essential tremor. He said that it runs in my family NOT! that I will eventually need brain surgery NOT! and prescribed me large doses of Propranalol NOT!

After fainting twice with one trip to the ER, I decided that the doctor was not doing a proper differential diagnosis, that this may very well be my meds. So after a few med changes, my shaking virtually stopped. When I am very agitated they can noticeably shake. Also when I am having a bad day, they shake just a little. So all things considered, I am OK now...well, sort of.

Propranolol lowered your blood pressure, which is probably why you fainted, right?

I used to have really ugly tremors, my hands shook, it was very noticable as I couldn't even find my mouth when I lit a cigarette. I had to hold my elbow to steady my hand... Steadily over time, I lost all my fine motor skills.

*Humilliating

If this was the only issue I had had, then I maybeeee wouldn't have been so against a side effect med, but I had much bigger problems than looking like a drug addict.

2 1/2 years after quitting the lithium I haven't made a full recovery, but atleast its not very noticable anymore, unless stressed.
I can even apply nail polish and eyeliner effectively once again.

I've never seen an addict with a tremor...not sure why that's being brought up. Alcoholics, maybe, but no street drugs I know of cause a tremor.

Yes. That what was the problem.

I had my pdoc give me Primidone in place of Propranolol. It work reasonably well. I asked my neurologist about Primidone, and he babbled a bit meaninglessly at me. He could not really tell me why he told me Propranolol was my only option, the one that would work for me, and instead not place me on something different when Propranolol was not working.

I used to hangout with quite a few addicts years ago when I was dating one. While its not common I definitly have seen them shake when they need a fix.

Tremors are one of the first symptoms I get from medication and yes they are very embarrassing. At one point my whole body shook. the doctor put me on propanol and it helped, but then we changed all my meds again. With the ones I'm on now the tremor is slight, but still can be embarassing.

Hey PP, lamotrigine instead of lithium. My pdoc wanted me to go on Litium but I had read so many things about bad side effects, that I told him that I would not take it.

Gayleggg, when you had the body tremors, did it feel like your head was where the biggest tremors came from?
Thanks for this!
