Hey everybody,

I'm not new to online support groups. But from what i've seen so far, this seems the best one.

I'm diagnosed with mood disorder not otherwise specified with psychotic features and OCD. My cocktail of diagnoses is almost as complicated as my cocktail of meds. I'm on the following cocktail:

Geodon 160 mg
Lamictal 400 mg
Luvox 100 mg
Trazadone 50 mg
Buspar 15 mg
Neurontin 900 2 daily
Trilafon 8mg

I know it's a bunch of meds, and i've been on this cocktail for 2 years.

I've been an psychiatric inpatient 10 times in the past 10 years. My latest hospitalization was in February, where i was admitted with a mixed episode. I've looked up my illness these past couple of days and it seems i have 'agitated depression'.

I usually don't need to go online for support groups, as a medication adjustment will do the trick as will psychotherapy.

My question is as follows: is one of my meds causing the agitation? Or will i have to deal with mixed episodes in the future?

Thank you for your time and i'll see you all around.

Well if you've been on the same meds for 2 years then I doubt your current state is med induced...but if I read wrong and not your entire cocktail is 2 years old, then I suggest you talk to your pdoc about the newest addition.

I've only had 3 mixed episodes ever, thank God. They were thee worst BP experience I've ever had. Lucky for me they are not the norm, nor did any of them last long. I hear they're harder to treat chemically too, but I wouldn't know about that. My first one I only told my pdoc after the fact because I didn't want my meds tweaked, and the last 2 I wasn't on any meds.

Buuut, I do get agitated quite often, so I really do feel for what you're going through.

Remember, this too shall pass hopefully very soon!

Can I say yes to both? Did you get your med adjusted in February? Hi welcome.

That seems like an awful lot of meds. I'd be surprised if they weren't causing some sort of unintended side effect. It'd definitely be something to discuss with your pdoc. Also, Hi and Welcome.

Welcome to PC

I agree with ManicIcarus...... you and your Pdoc need to look over that impressive med list and see if there is an issue.

Good luck.... Hope you stick around and see how supportive this place is

Thanks for the input everybody. I see my pdoc tomorrow and will tell him to put me on a non-ssri as my antidepressant. SSRI's have helped with my obsessiveness, but after trying 3 in the past couple of months i see how it's those that are probably getting me worked. Thank you everybody for your time.

Welcome, there are times I get easily agitated as well and I know it is not from my medication. You are definitely on quite a lot, anytime you have questions about your medications it is best to talk to your pdoc.

Welcome! I've only had one diagnosed mixed episode, and it wasn't as bad as my full mania. That's a case by case basis, though. You are on more meds than me, and that's quite a lot!! I'd discuss with my pdoc for sure. I hope you find the help you need here.

I saw my pdoc today and shared with him everything that i've shared with the you all. I'm down to 6 meds as he took me off of the SSRI, which i'm happy about. I'll keep you all all posted, so thanks for your feedback.
