I am new here. I don't know anyone else who is bipolar. I feel like everyone thinks I am strange or making it up. I have trouble getting people to understand. I just need to feel like I am not so different.

Welcome to PC... everyone here is really supportive and knows what it's like to have bipolar.

I'm new here, too. But I was diagnosed in 2007. It was hard at first because it was so new to me and it came out of nowhere for the diagnosis. Then I was hospitalized only a couple months later on a 51-50 because I just couldn't find the right combo of meds.
Are you trying to get family or friends to understand? I think my mom has the hardest time out of everyone. She just doesn't understand and doesn't seem to make any effort to try, which is frustrating because she is the parent that lives the closest to me...my dad is 2 hours away. |

Thank you all for your encouragement! I was diagnosed 5 years ago. I take the medicine most of the time. Sometimes when I am doing well I get complacent and stop taking it. That usually ends badly. I have been married for 2 years and my husband just doesn't understand the illness. He mostly just tries to ignore it but then when that becomes impossible, he gets so frustrated. My boss doesn't understand either. And anytime I decide to trust and tell someone they look at me like I am an alien. I just feel like no one understands. I feel like I am just wandering through the world all alone.

I'm glad you've found us. This is a very supportive place. You aren't alone. It's challenging to get people to understand. There is nothing wrong with you. You have a mi that is treatable. Welcome! Hugs
