So now to add to my list of Bipolar II, PTSD, and BPD, I am finding out that I possibly have ADHD as well. My T tested me for it last week, since she knows that my Pdoc likes to have the information before starting meds for ADHD.

My therapist is convinced that I have it, and that it is a source of a lot of my self esteem issues starting in early childhood. Since it was explained to me, I can see that it is probably true. I have always blamed my scattered way of being on Bipolar, but now that I have been stable for close to a year I can see that it is not resolving. I'm still disorganized, unfocused and spacey pretty much all the time.

Honestly, sometimes it is sheer luck if I catch 3 words out of a conversation.
And if you start talking to me while I'm doing something else, forget it.

So I am pretty sure I will be started on a trial of ADHD meds next week . I currently take 300 mgs of Lamictal, 187.5 of Effexor and .25 Risperdal daily.

Any advice from people who take similar meds and ADHD medication? I'm a little worried about using a stimulant because I am finally pretty balanced in my day to day life.

I was diagnose adhd around 8th grade, so I started taking it around 14 years old. I took vyvanse for probly 4 years before I had my first manic episode. I think vyvanse triggered it somehow, because right when I stopped taking it (because I convinced myself I didn't have adhd, and I thought I didn't need anything...)I flew into mania and started doing crazy things.

I'm off any type of stimulant right now, but my pdoc says that I should get back on one. I'm not quite sure what to think.

I don't have ADHD, but i took Vyvanse for a while for treatment resistant depression. I liked it. I might go back on it at some point. I'm Bipolar 2, and my pdoc said it was fine, she just wanted to monitor me closely.

I'm diagnosed as ADHD as well as Bi-Polar II. I take Adderall for it and it's very helpful for me.

I stared taking adderall relatively recently and it has been a tremendous help. But also I wasn't the type of person who pursued stimulants. When I did coke I never really reacted like most other people, so I haven't been inclined to abuse it, the adderall. The adderall gives me energy. I also stared taking Guanfacine (Tenex) in the last year for anxiety associated with PTSD and I have had very good results. And it has made the adderall more effective.

If I don't take my Adderall I have a lot of trouble. It gives me energy and just gives me clarity and focus. I feel better overall when on it (probably because I actually can get my work done and things like that). However, I do have a fear I've already become too dependent on it and I've only been on it daily for a couple of months, at a low dose.

My son takes the daytrana patch because its a steady amount so his abilify catches up and doesn't crash. He also takes lamictal.
