I have been in such a good place since getting well. (I had bronchitis and severe sinus infections for six weeks.) I've met some pretty awesome people in here and I'm in that sweet spot between super high and super down.

So today I cleaned my room for the first time since getting sick-and I'm talking using the crevice tool from the vacuum kind of clean. For some unknown reason I lifted the mattress to see what was under the bed and you will never believe what I found.

My sociopathic ex-roommate had taken a lot of my things with her when she left. And until I could afford to get the locks changed, she was coming in when I was gone and messing things up, like my computer. I still can't get into my email, but haven't had time to call the company and get it straightened out. And she left my dead husbands name on my account. She took the things I needed the most and the things that would hurt me most to lose-like all of my notes for two of my novels.

So under the bed, way in the back and hidden under boots and two retired cat beds, were these two sealed boxes. I dug them out and hit the mother load. One box was full of my writing, including the notes and some other things I hadn't even missed yet. The other box contained my credit card, my military ID and my social security card. And my Time-Life edition on Marilyn Monroe.

So I hooted and cackled and shouted about justice and danced around laughing for about a half an hour and I am still grinning from ear to ear.

Take that, you thief! Ah ha, you ****! All my anger has drained away and I will never have to waste any more time thinking about this person, who is now living in a motel. dun dun dun!

This was just too good not to share.

And the cherry on top? My new roommate is a jewel-an absolute gent who takes care of the yard and does all the things I find difficult and he does them without being asked. Takes me to my appointments, takes me shopping, washes dishes and cooks.

I've always said that when someone who has really wronged you gets dumped on by life, there should be a note in your mailbox telling you karma has been at work.

Glad to know that things worked out! So she actually hid the things in your house, instead of taking them with her? What an odd person.

That's super awesome you found all that stuff!!! Good reason to be happy. I'd be pissed off as well if I couldn't find writing that I worked hard on. Keep on dancing!

That sounds really annoying. I'm sorry you had to deal with that roommate! That's completely inappropriate to just go into your house and mess around with your stuff.
