I have felt AMAZING the last few days and omg have I got stuff done! I have been helping to get things for a silent auction at church and yesterday I shopped for 2 baskets Im making and went to 19 businesses looking for donations! I tried to sleep last night but I have been up since 4 because was just wide awake and unable to go back to sleep. My mind was racing too much. I have tried reading lately but Im so frustrated I cant because my mind cant slow down enough to catch what Im reading. I have all kinds of plans and things I am doing and I feel so good about it! I thought my Dr would too...but no. Shes says its hypomania and Im headed for sleeplessness if we don't stop it. I was kinda aggravated she wasn't happy for me.

So she increased my lamictal and prescribed me klonopin to take at night along with my already Neurontin for sleep. She told me I had to get at least 6 hours of sleep a night. Man did she keep lecturing me. I was surprised she gave me klonopin because I OD on it last May but she said you can OD on any drug so she wasn't afraid to give it to me.

This is so annoying.

Sleep is healing. It keeps our bodies & brains going. 6 hours/night is good but 8 is optimal. I have had this situation all throughout my life. Am on good meds now & sleep pretty well. When I was super manic (beyond hypomanic) b4 I got diag. I'd sometimes go 3 or 4 months with 2-3 hours' sleep/night. I know I was not sleeping b/c I was up doing things. Then the hallucinations began, paranoia etc. So altho' the meds made me slow, made me gain weight, I do take them because sleep is so important! It does feel good when you are in the first stages of a big mania but then it can lead to wild behaviors.

The problem with BP, atleast for me, is that we have to constantly change dosages or even medicines because our mood changes, and it sucks. I can't even tell you how many medications I have been on and all of the side effects, which I think everyone can agree on. I will do fine for awhile and then things change, it's the nature of the beast. You do need the sleep though otherwise you could go into a full blown manic stage.

At least your dr. talks to you. I've gotten (2) 10 minutes of questions sessions and that's it. I'm no closer to getting stable to get a job. So no job means no life. Why do I have to continue to be alive?
