I was diagnosed with major depression back in 2012 only to find out that I am type one bipolar. Now I was on Wellbutrin, intuitive for ADD and ambien cr for sleep. I have yet to feel any better about life honestly. I am now on divalproex 500mg.....12.5ambian and intuitive. Does any of thee help with voices?

Hi. Nikkinums, and welcome to Psych Central! Drugs that are in the anti-psychotic family are generally the ones used for voices. Wellbutrin is an antidepressant, intuitive is evidently for ADD, and of course, ambien is a drug for sleep. Divalproex is a mood stabilizer for your bipolar.

I don't see anything that I would think would help with voices, but I am no expert. Does you doctor know you are hearing voices?

Not that I'm aware of---does you doc know about the voices? Typically they'll prescribe an atypical antipsychotic like risperidone, seroquel, abilify, latuda etc because they can help stabilize mood as well as block voices...

I don't know what intuitive is but if its for ADD it might increase dopamine and actually trigger voices---wellbutrin use can also trigger voices so if you were using these meds before you started hearing voices they may have started it in the first place...

But yeah---best option for voices is if you can function without stimulants get off of those and try an anti-psychotic although some docs will quite commonly give you an antipsychotic with a stimulant ...you'll have to talk to your doc to find out what is best for your case.

I take zyprexa, which is an atypical antipsychotic, for voices and it helps immensely. The only problem with that has been weight gain.
