I could be wrong, but I'm sure its something like Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer...

If I am wrong, I hope I didn't offend anyone!

I must be getting old. Why on earth would all of that be abbreviated. Something like MILF I understand but that? In what context would this abbreviation be used? Just curious. Anyone?

It's used a lot to describe programming in health care focused on the LGBTQ community. So where I am, there is a community center, and a community health clinic with lots of programming, such as health clinics, support groups, leisure activities. It is also a way for people to self identify. It is more broad than simply gay, and encompasses a broader range of experiences. This is a term created by members of the community, and without the stigma attached to some other labels. That's how I've seen it used, but there may be other uses also.

Ok well thanks for the education on that one my friend. Just the first time I saw that at all and it left me bewildered. It certainly does seem to encompass everything

I think, also, the abbreviation is used to reduce the tongue twister when referring to the entire gay community.

The Q is queer, not questioning.

The q can either stand for questioning or queer, my gsa (gay straight alliance) club in high school used queer while my group in college uses questioning.

I have always understood q to be queer, but I think both work. Not sure there's a true line in the sand definition of it. Whatever works.
