I was best friends with a young woman in the 90s. We were both high functioning, had so much fun going out dancing, laughing a lot.
She went away to law school, became very rich attorney, married, had a daughter. I was diag. with bipolar & after 5 years of hard work w/pdoc, MD, neurologist, got onto good meds.
My friend got diag. with bipolar but was just put on Paxil & according to her sister, that didn't work. Her sisters have given up on her. She does all the bipolar things: spends insane amounts of $$ gets bailed out by rich Uncle. Lost job, child (husband divorced her & took the child), gets into rages, pushed her Mom down stairs. Mom is sympathetic, lets my old friend live w/her. Sisters call her a sociopath. I've told her oldest sister that if Paxil doesn't work, she has to try other meds. Sister laughs & says "she's incurable!"
I want to try to help this old friend (who I haven't seen since 2002). Have called, left messages but apparently she & her sisters "blow out" each other's phones, ranting at each other--so there are 100s of messages on all their phones.
How can I get the sisters (who have really suffered the worst from my old friend's actions) to try helping their bipolar sister???

I don't know what you could do considering you are spoken with her sisters and they don't seem willing to try and help their sister. If you could get a hold of your friend you might could convince her to back to the doctor. Sorry to hear your friend is in such bad shape. Best wishes.
